Mariners, Luis Castillo Agree To Five-Year, $108M Deal

Right-hander Luis Castillo and the Seattle Mariners are in agreement on a five-year, $108 million contract extension that will keep the prized trade deadline acquisition part of the ascendant team's core for the foreseeable future, sources familiar with the deal told ESPN.

Wilmer Flores, Giants Agree To Extension Through 2024

The San Francisco Giants have agreed to a contract extension with Wilmer Flores that guarantees the infielder $16.5 million over the next three seasons and could be worth up to $21.5 million.

Flores gets salaries of $6.5 million each in 2023 and 2024. The contract also  includes an $8.5 million club option for 2025. If the team declines, Flores has a $3.5 million player option.

The 31-year-old is hitting .233/.317/.410 with a career-high 18 home runs in 463 at-bats this season.

Center fielder Enrique Hernández and the Boston Red Sox agreed on a one-year, $10 million contract extension Monday, keeping the 31-year-old in the city where he starred in the 2021 postseason, sources told ESPN.

A hip-flexor injury sidelined Hernández for more than two months this season and contributed to his struggles on the field after his career year in 2021.
